The design, featuring tiny filigree circles, emulates the appearance of the ancient Russian chain-mail armor, as worn by the legendary Russian warrior, Alexander Nevsky, who drove back the invaders in the "Battle on the Ice" at Pskov in the year 1242.
The openings in the chain-mail design are for the eyes and mouth.
Each little circle is formed by hand and the tops are made in the shape of the old-style Russian battle helmets. Alexander Nevsky's helmet is on display in the Kremlin museum. Three individual seasoning containers on a 6-inch tray in silver-plate and gold-plate. $245.00.
